We don't know what his name was, we took him in at the Chicago Bird Rescue.  We think he is between 10-15 years old.  This is still fairly young for a macaw since they can live over 80 years.  We think he may have been traumatized by his past owners becuase he screams when he is startled.  He is not a problem screamer.  He is territorial of his cage and as of now, he will try to bite you when you put your hands in the cage to get him out.  However he does know how to step up onto your hand or a stick.  At first you have to chase him around the cage a bit with a stick to get him to come out but once you get him out, he is fine.  We are working alot with him to get over his fear of coming out of the cage.  Once he gets better he will be marked up to $1095.00.  He has plucked some feathers in his armpit area.  They are already starting to grow back.  Once they grow back and he is better about coming out of his cage, he will be marked up to $1195.00.  If you are experienced with macaws and would like to finish working with him, you can get him now for $995.00.  Once you get him out of the cage, you can see that he does not want to hurt you, he is just scared.  He needs some TLC and he will be a wonderful pet.  He does not try to bite outside of the cage.  He will take treats right out of your hand without biting whether in the cage or outside of it.  This is the first step to recovery, the second step is learning the step up command.  He already knows how to step up as well so most of the hard work in rehabilitating this bird is already done.  He even cuddles with you on your arm against your chest when you are holding him so it is easy to see that he has alot of love to give and he appreciates the love you will give him.  He just has not had enough love in the past.  He has been DNA Sexed Male.  Please consider giving him a good home, he deserves it.  He also needs a name.
